3. Seoul Hosts G20 Summit
South Korea hosted the fifth G20 summit November eleventh and 12th in Seoul under the theme of "Shared Growth Beyond Crisis.” It marked the first time for a G20 summit to be held in a nation with an emerging economy.

As chair of the gathering, South Korea successfully coordinated views on various financial issues amid concerns that the talks would focus only on resolving issues related to exchange rates.

The gathering in Seoul yielded agreements on exchange rates, balanced growth, the creation of a global financial safety net, development, trade liberalization, reforming financial institutions and regulations, and anticorruption.

South Korea was regarded as having raised its status in the world by hosting the G20 gathering and producing constructive results.
