The highly-anticipated second season of Netflix original series "Squid Game" has become the most-watched global TV show on the platform just a day after its release.

According to FlixPatrol, "Squid Game 2" ranked first on the Netflix worldwide TOP TV Shows list on Friday.

The Korean series topped rankings in 92 out of 93 countries counted by the ranking website, including the United States, France, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and Turkey, with the exception of New Zealand.

In "Squid Game 2," the protagonist Seong Gi-hun, played by Emmy-winning actor Lee Jung-jae, returns to the secret survival game in an attempt to shut it down.

The first season, released in September 2021, topped the global ranking eight days after its release, and stayed in the Top Ten for 106 days.
