Inmates at Dongbu Detention Center in Seoul who have tested positive to the coronavirus will be transferred to a correctional facility in Cheongsong, North Gyeongsang Province.

According to authorities on Saturday, the No. 2 prison in northern North Gyeongsang Province has been named as the treatment center for COVID-19 patients from the Dongbu Detention Center.

Around 500 inmates showing mild symptoms will be relocated.

The exact transfer date is not yet decided.

Close to 300 new cases were reported at the detention center on Friday alone, raising total infections there to 520.
