U.S. President Donald Trump says he prays for the new U.S. government’s success in keeping America safe and prosperous.
Trump made the remarks in a prerecorded farewell address that was released on Tuesday, a day before he’s set to leave office.
During the roughly 20-minute video, Trump did not mention President-elect Joe Biden by name and spent much of his speech touting his achievements, mainly economic ones.
Trump praised the rising stock market and said he was "proud to be the first president in decades who has started no new wars."
In an apparent message to his supporters, Trump said as he prepares to hand power over to a new administration at noon on Wednesday, and he wants his supporters to know that the movement they started is only just beginning.
However, he was quick to denounce the attack on the U.S. Capitol earlier this month, saying political violence is an attack on everything that Americans cherish and can never be tolerated.
