President Moon Jae-in has congratulated Joe Biden on his inauguration, saying that "America is back."

In a post on social media Thursday, President Moon congratulated the U.S.' newly inaugurated president, saying that "America's new beginning will make democracy even greater."

Moon wrote that together with the Korean people, he stands by Biden's journey toward "America United."

He added that South Korea has always had confidence in the path the U.S. has been taking to advance freedom and as an ally, it will continue to cooperate with the U.S. to keep the Korean Peninsula and the region peaceful and prosperous.

Moon said that the South Korea-U.S. alliance will grow even stronger through their coordination in addressing global issues in such areas as public health, security, the economy and climate change.

Moon then wrote "gachi gapsida," which means "Let's go together," a symbolic slogan of the Korea-U.S. alliance.
