North Korea will reportedly hold a plenary meeting of its ruling Workers' Party this week to decide plans for "strategic tasks" to be carried out this year.
According to the North's state Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Sunday, the Politburo Standing Committee of the party's Central Committee decided to hold a second plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee "within the first ten days of February."
The plenary meeting is expected to be held before Wednesday this week and before the lunar New Year holiday.
The KCNA said the planned meeting will examine and decide the 2021 working plans of all fields to thoroughly carry out the strategic tasks set forth during the eighth party congress.
The first plenary meeting of the party committee was held last month during the party congress.
A plenary session of the party usually takes place at least once a year to decide its key policy line, organization reshuffles and other major issues.
