North Korea reportedly held a plenary meeting of the ruling Workers' Party on Monday to discuss specific goals for this year to implement its new five-year economic plan.
The North's official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported on Tuesday that the second plenary meeting of the party's Eighth Central Committee was held the previous day to review and finalize detailed plans to achieve "strategic tasks" set forth during the party congress.
The North unveiled a new five-year economic development plan at the rare congress last month.
On Monday, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reportedly chaired the plenary meeting and delivered a report on implementing the first year's tasks.
The KCNA said Kim criticized "passive and self-protecting tendencies revealed by the state economic guidance organs" in setting this year's goals.
The report said Kim expressed the party's determination and will to push forward the economic construction despite the persistent anti-epidemic situation.
