President Moon Jae-in said the government's fourth COVID-19 relief package worth 19-point-five trillion won reflects its will to help the nation overcome the crisis.
At a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Moon said the most pressing task at hand for the government and the National Assembly is addressing issues rising from crises involving people's livelihoods and the job market.
The president said the latest relief package is aimed at offering the largest support to date and not to leave anyone out.
He then urged the parliament to promptly review the relief package and extra budget to finance the program so that the payouts can start as soon as possible.
Regarding vaccinations that started last Friday, Moon emphasized that the government guarantees safety, regardless of the manufacturer. He asked the political parties and media to refrain from sharing “fake news” that may stoke public anxiety.
