The government has released a draft plan on how it will revise the current five-tier social distancing scheme to four levels and to better convey public action plans for each level.
The Health and Welfare Ministry unveiled the draft during a public hearing in Seoul on Friday. A finalized plan is to come later this month after gathering public opinion, though an exact date for when the rules will go into effect has yet to be set.
Each level will be determined based on the weekly average confirmed cases per 100-thousand people. The lowest tier, Level One, is imposed if the figure is below zero-point-seven, with the highest, Level Four, coming in effect if the number is over three.
Under the new rules, no-assembly orders for businesses will be abolished for the most part. Instead they will be asked to take more responsibility and engage in voluntary containment efforts. But limits on business hours, such as curfews, will kick in from Level Three.
Restrictions on personal gatherings will also differ in each level with up to eight allowed under Level Two.
