Government inspectors have conducted a site search of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation(LH) headquarters as part of an investigation into claims the state organization's employees had made speculative land purchases.

A nine-member inspection team, consisting of officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Land Ministry, arrived at LH’s main office in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province on Friday afternoon.

They sought to secure basic information that could corroborate suspicions of illegality such as personnel data, internal regulations and codes of conduct.

The inspection team is also collecting letters of agreement from staffers of LH and the Land Ministry, allowing them to look into whether they had made any property investment in new town sites before they were designated so.

The joint government probe was launched this week soon after complaints were filed accusing former and current LH employees of buying land in Gwangmyeong and Siheung before the government included the two Gyeonggi Province cities into its third New Town development project.
