Some 30 Korean citizens in Myanmar are headed home on a chartered flight, amid rising insecurity within the Southeast Asian nation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the chartered flight has departed Yangon International Airport this morning, around 7 a.m. local time.

The flight is expected to arrive at Incheon International Airport around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Ministry stated that there are roughly three-thousand-500 Korean nationals residing in Myanmar, mostly in Yangon, and that no serious damage involving Korean nationals has been reported so far.

Following the military coup on February 1, all international flights to and from Myanmar had been banned and only relief flights run by Myanmar Airways International had been operating irregularly.
