The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials(CIO) on Friday raided the office of main opposition People Power Party(PPP) lawmaker Kim Woong at the National Assembly.

The raid came as part of the CIO’s investigation into allegations that PPP presidential contender Yoon Seok-youl incited the opposition to file criminal complaints against pro-government figures while he was prosecutor-general.

Kim is suspected of receiving the complaint forms from Son Joon-sung, a senior prosecutor and a close aide to Yoon, to be used against ruling bloc figures ahead of last year’s general elections, then delivering them to his party.

The CIO said it also sent investigators to search Kim's home as well as Son's office and home.

The raid follows a complaint to the CIO against Yoon, Son and other prosecutors by a civic group on Monday after an online news outlet raised the allegations the previous week.
