The government is in the process of analyzing and monitoring movement in North Korea, after the regime announced it test launched its new long-range cruise missile.
Unification Ministry spokesperson Lee Jong-joo said on Monday that her ministry plans to cooperate with the Defense Ministry and other government agencies as part of the analysis.
Joint Chiefs of Staff(JCS) spokesperson Col. Kim Jun-rak said intelligence authorities from South Korea and the U.S. were working together closely.
Due to the suspended military communication between the two Koreas, Defense Ministry spokesperson Boo Seung-chan said Pyongyang did not notify Seoul about its missile tests in advance.
The latest tests are assessed to have come in response to Seoul and Washington's recent joint military exercise and Seoul's test launch of a submarine-launched ballistic missile(SLBM).
The North's firing of cruise missiles is not in violation of United Nations Security Council(UNSC) resolutions as the missiles were not ballistic in nature.
