Senior officials of South Korea held talks with their American and Japanese counterparts in the wake of North Korea's short-range ballistic missile launches.
According to Seoul's Foreign Ministry, First Vice Foreign Minister Choi Jong-kun had talks with his U.S. counterpart Wendy Sherman over the phone on Wednesday.
The two sides reportedly shared their assessments of the situation and discussed response measures.
The ministry said Choi and Sherman have maintained close consultation on issues of mutual concern through in-person meetings in June and July and frequent phone talks.
South Korea's top nuclear envoy Noh Kyu-duk also held a similar phone talk with his U.S. counterpart Sung Kim on Wednesday afternoon regarding the recent missile test.
Noh spoke with his Japanese counterpart Takehiro Funakoshi as well. The two sides agreed to continue close communication regarding the North Korean nuclear issue based on the results of their talks earlier this week in Tokyo.
