Private gatherings of up to eight people will be allowed in the capital region from Friday as the government eased some quarantine measures ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

The eased cap will be in place until next Thursday across the nation, including Seoul, Incheon and the surrounding Gyeonggi Province, which are all under the toughest Level Four social distancing measures.

Under the move, family gatherings of up to eight people will be allowed if the group includes four fully vaccinated people. 

However, such family gatherings will only be allowed at home in areas under Level Four, with eating out or outdoor activities banned.   

Quarantine authorities urged unvaccinated or partly vaccinated people to refrain from in-person meetings.
