Ji So-yun Becomes Highest Scoring Korean Ever in 12-0 Win Over Mongolia

The Korean women's football team beat Mongolia 12-0 in the first game of qualifiers for the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup and the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Chelsea midfielder Ji So-yun scored her 59th goal for Korea during the match, surpassing Korean footballing legend Cha Bum-kun, star of the men's national team in the 1970s and 1980s, as the highest-scoring player of all time.

Ji was one of seven goal scorers, with English Super League stars Cho So-hyun and Lee Geum-min both finding the back of the net, alongside Choo Hyo-joo, Lee Min-a, Park Yee-un and Moon Mi-ra, who scored a hat trick.

The win puts Korea at the top of qualifying Group E. The Taeguk Ladies will next face Uzbekistan at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
