The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials(CIO) on Tuesday raided the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office as part of an investigation into a political meddling scandal surrounding former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl.

According to the legal community, the CIO team of prosecutors and assistant inspectors raided the office within the SPO building that was used by former senior prosecutor Son Jun-sung.

Son, a former aide to Yoon, is suspected of conveying pre-written complaints against several pro-government figures to prosecutor-turned-opposition politician Kim Woong ahead of last year’s general elections.

Earlier this month, the CIO also raided Son’s current office at the Daegu High Prosecutors Office, where he has been working as a human rights supervisor, and confiscated his mobile phone to secure possible evidence.
