50,000-won Bills Continue to Penetrate Market

The Bank of Korea says the number of 50-thousand-won denominated bills that have been circulated in the nation has topped 200 million.

The central bank said Thursday that as of the end of last month, 212 million of the 50-thousand-won notes were circulating in the market.

The figure accounts for some five-point-three percent of the total number of banknotes being circulated, which is higher than the five percent posted for five-thousand-won bills.

The portion taken up by ten-thousand-won bills out of total banknotes stood at more than 55 percent, while that of one-thousand-one bills stood at around 30 percent.
