Top Office: Moon, Trump Discuss Possibility of 3-way Summit with Kim

The presidential office says that President Moon Jae-in and U.S. President Donald Trump talked about the idea of holding a three-way summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un after the U.S.-North Korea summit takes place.

A senior presidential official told reporters on Friday that Moon stressed the need for the three-nation summit when he spoke with Trump over the phone on April 28th and Trump appeared interested in the suggestion.

Asked if the two leaders had formed a consensus on holding a three-way summit with the North, the official projected that whether or not such meeting will take place would depend on the results of the Trump-Kim summit.

On a North Korean media report that Kim highly assessed a new alternative the U.S. has devised to resolving the conflict between Washington and Pyongyang, the official said that it may suggest that progress has been made in the issues of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and replacing the Korean War armistice with a peace treaty.
