N. Korea Invites 8 S. Korean Reporters to Nuclear Test Site Dismantling

North Korea has invited eight South Korean journalists to an event showcasing the dismantlement of its nuclear test site scheduled next week.

Seoul's Unification Ministry said the North sent a telephone message in the name of the North's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland via the Panmunjeom border village on Tuesday morning.

In the message, the North invited four reporters each from a South Korean news agency and a broadcasting company for the event that will take place next Wednesday to Friday.

The North said the invited reporters will receive visas from the North Korean embassy in Beijing and will fly from Beijing on May 22nd on a charter flight to Kalma airport in Wonsan along with other foreign reporters.

Their accommodations and the press center will be in Wonsan.

North Korea has informed that from the eastern city, the reporters will travel to the nuclear test site located in the northern region by train and return home on a charter flight from Kalma airport either on May 26th or the 27th.

The reporters will take photos at the site and cover the dismantlement of the Punggyeri nuclear test site.

Pyongyang also said that all costs related to the trip will be shouldered by respective media firms.
