N. Korean Diplomats Attend S. Korea-Hosted Forum
North Korean diplomats took part in an international forum hosted by the South Korean government on Friday.
Seoul's Unification Ministry said the Korea Global Forum was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Two North Korean diplomats working at the North’s embassy in Moscow attended the forum, marking the first time a North Korean diplomat has ever attended an overseas event hosted by the South Korean ministry.
Chong Ki-pung, head of the North’s Unification Research Institute, also attended the forum. He said the Panmunjeom Declaration needs to be faithfully implemented to secure peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
He also emphasized how both sides share responsibilities for the successful implementation of the declaration reached during last month's inter-Korean summit.
The forum was cohosted by the ministry, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the association of Korean descendants in Kazakhstan.
