Foreign Journalists' Trip to Nuclear Test Site Delayed due to Rain

A group of foreign journalists arrived in North Korea on Tuesday to witness the dismantling of the Punggye-ri nuclear test site, but their departure to the site was delayed due to rain.

Correspondent Igor Zhdanov with Russia's state media RT reported on Tuesday that about 20 journalists from the U.S., Britain, China and Russia arrived in the North's northeast city of Wonsan from Beijing.

The Russian reporter said that they were scheduled to leave for the nuclear test site on Tuesday evening, but their trip was canceled due to rain.

He said that it takes about eleven hours by train, four more hours by car and one hour by foot to reach the site.

Other journalists from China and the U.S. also reported that their train set to leave at 7 p.m. Tuesday was canceled due to rain and they are waiting at a hotel in Wonsan.
