UNSC Approves N. Korean Officials' Travel to Singapore

A United Nations(UN) Security Council committee has reportedly approved the travel of North Korean officials to Singapore for a planned U.S.-North Korea summit, although they are on the UN sanctions blacklist.
According to the Associated Press and Reuters on Wednesday, Singapore asked for a blanket waiver for the participation of North Korean delegations in its May 16th letter to the Security Council North Korea sanctions committee. The letter did not list which officials were expected to visit Singapore.
In the letter, Singapore described the summit as “an opportunity to advance the objective of a peaceful resolution to the North Korean nuclear issue and the establishment of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the region.”
The UN committee reportedly granted approval for the request, clearing the way for all members of the North Korean delegation to travel to Singapore for the summit.
