N. Korean Diplomat to Attend June 15th Joint Declaration Anniversary

A North Korean diplomat will attend a South Korean event to be held in Germany next month to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the first inter-Korean summit.
The June 15th Joint Declaration produced during the inaugural inter-Korean summit in 2000 will be marked by an event at a Korean church in Berlin on June ninth.
According to the organizers, the ambassadors of both Koreas will deliver speeches during the event.
It will be the first time for a North Korean ambassador to attend the commemorative event since the Roh Moo-hyun administration.
The South Korean organizer of the event said the North Korean ambassador contacted him after last month's inter-Korean summit and said he would like to attend.
The Panmunjeom Declaration adopted during the summit includes an agreement to hold joint events marking the anniversaries of previous inter-Korean summits.
