Seoul Vows Full Support for N. Korea-US Summit

South Korea said Tuesday it will play every role it can to contribute to efforts toward the North Korea-U.S. summit.
Seoul's Foreign Ministry said it will closely monitor dialogue moves between Washington and Pyongyang as it appears the two sides will begin earnest efforts through working-level talks to fine-tune details of their summit.
Ministry spokesman Noh Kyu-duk told a regular briefing that the ministry will focus all efforts to keep the dialogue momentum alive and for the North Korea-U.S. summit to be a success through which complete denuclearization and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula can be achieved.
The spokesman noted that Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on the phone immediately after President Trump's letter canceling the North Korea summit was unveiled.
Noh said Minister Kang also communicated with Pompeo, who is Washington's point man on the North Korea summit, several times through phone conversations over the weekend to brief results of the latest inter-Korean summit.
He said the minister also received briefings regarding developments to reinstate the summit between Trump and Kim Jong-un.
