N. Korea Urges S. Korea to Scrap Military Intel Deal with Japan

North Korean media outlets have called for South Korea to scrap a military intelligence-sharing pact with Japan.
The North’s official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) said on Tuesday that there are several stumbling blocks to the implementation of the Panmunjeom Declaration, citing the General Security of Military Information Agreement(GSOMIA) as one of them.
The KCNA said the South Korean government should discard what it called a “treacherous deal” and “war deal” to show its will to implement the historic declaration reached during the inter-Korean summit last month.
North Korea's propaganda Web site "Uriminzokkiri" echoed the claim, saying it is a national shame for the South to maintain the pact, although Japan is seeking to extort Dokdo from Koreans while refusing to apologize or compensate for its past wrongdoings.
The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the North’s ruling Workers’ Party, claimed that the voice of opposition to the pact is growing in many parts of the South.
South Korea and Japan signed GSOMIA in November of 2016 to share sensitive information on the threat posed by the North’s missile and nuclear activities.
