Kyodo: Japan Seeks Foreign Ministers' Talks with N.Korea in August

Japan is reportedly seeking foreign ministers talks with North Korea amid working-level talks between Washington and Pyongyang ahead of their potential summit.
Quoting multiple sources in the Japanese government, Japan's Kyodo News said on Tuesday that Tokyo will seek foreign ministers talks with Pyongyang should the U.S.-North Korea summit produce results on the issue of the North's denuclearization.
The report said that Japan is seeking to hold the talks on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum(ARF) set to open on August first in Singapore.
A source familiar with Japan-North Korea affairs said that following last month's inter-Korean summit, Tokyo contacted a North Korean official in a third country to express its intent to hold such talks.
The North and Japan held foreign ministers talks back in 2015 on the sidelines of the ARF in Malaysia.
