US Issues Religious Freedom Report ahead of Possible Summit with N. Korea

Washington has issued an annual report highlighting lack of religious freedom in North Korea ahead of a possible summit between the United States and North Korea.

In the 2017 International Religious Freedom Annual Report released on Tuesday, the U.S. State Department said around 80-thousand to 12-thousand political prisoners were incarcerated in the North’s prison camps, some of them for religious reasons.

The U.S. usually issues the annual report in August.

Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback said he expects human rights will be brought up in any potential US-North Korea summit.
