White House: Trump, Kim Summit Set for 9 a.m. June 12 in Singapore

U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's summit has been set for 9 a.m. next Tuesday in Singapore.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders unveiled the time of the meeting during a regular briefing on Monday, adding that logistical preparations are being finalized by an advance team in Singapore.

The summit will be held at 10 a.m. Korean time.

On working-level talks under way at the truce village of Panmunjeom, Sanders said the U.S. delegation continues diplomatic negotiations with the North Korean delegation. She said the discussions “have been very positive, and significant progress has been made.”

Asked if maximum pressure is still Washington’s policy on Pyongyang, Sanders said the U.S. policy on North Korea hasn’t changed, adding that the U.S. has very powerful sanctions on the North and will not remove them unless Pyongyang denuclearizes.

On whether the upcoming summit will seek the North’s denuclearization in an all-at-once manner or in phases, Sanders said she’s not going to predict the outcome of a meeting that hasn’t taken place yet.
