The South Korean men’s curling team was defeated by the U.S. in their opening match at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Wednesday morning.
The Korean team, led by Kim Chang-min, lost 11-7 to a strong American side at the Gangneung Curling Centre.
The match started evenly, with the teams tied at 2-2 after the first two ends, but the U.S. soon took control of the match and ended up comfortable winners.
In the morning session’s other matches, Sweden beat Denmark 9-5 and Canada defeated Italy 5-3. In the closest match of the day, Great Britain won 6-5 against Switzerland.
South Korea will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat when they play Sweden on Wednesday evening.
