American Shaun White won the men’s snowboarding halfpipe event at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Wednesday with a superb final run.

White was in second place going into the final run at Phoenix Snow Park but his score of 97-point-75 saw him top the rankings and pick up his third Olympic gold medal in the event.

Japanese teenager Ayumu Hirano won the silver medal, while Australia’s Scotty James claimed the bronze.

With the win, White became the first snowboarder to claim three Olympic titles following his victories at the 2006 and 2010 Winter Games.

Team USA has dominated the snowboarding competitions at the PyeongChang Games, with American boarders winning all four of the events so far.
