South Korean slider Yun Sung-bin won the country’s first Olympic gold medal in the skeleton event at the PyeongChang Winter Games.
Yun also became to first Asian athlete to win the gold, clocking a time of 50-point-02 seconds in the fourth heat for a cumulative time of three minutes and 20-point-55 seconds at the Olympic Sliding Center in Pyeongchang, ranking number one among 30 athletes.
Yun’s time was one-point-63 seconds faster than Russian athlete Nikita Tregubov, who took the silver medal.
The bronze went to Britain’s Dom Parsons.
Fellow South Korean Kim Ji-soo ranked sixth in the race while long-dominant Latvian Martins Dukurs placed fourth.
Yun’s medal was the second gold for Team Korea.
