The South Korean women’s curling team continued its good form at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics with a thrilling win over Sweden on Monday.

The South Korean team narrowly won 7-6 in the match at the Gangneung Curling Centre to take a huge step toward qualifying for the semi-finals.

Sweden took the lead in the first end, but Team Korea quickly responded and held a 7-3 lead going into the ninth end.

Although Sweden scored three points in the final two ends, it wasn’t enough to turn the match around as South Korea held on to claim its fifth victory of the games.

South Korea is now in joint first place in the rankings of the ten competing nations, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-final stage.

In the morning session’s other matches, Switzerland thrashed Olympic Athletes from Russia 11-2, while Canada defeated Japan 8-3. The United States won their match against Denmark 7-6.
