Korea lost 6-1 to Sweden in the seventh place classification match at Kwandong Hockey Centre, its fifth consecutive defeat of the games.

Sweden scored first but Korean captain Han Soo-jin equalized in the first period to score her team’s second goal of the tournament.

Sweden then exerted its superiority over Korea as it scored five unanswered goals to finish comfortable winners.

After wrapping up the Olympic mission in last place in the tournament, head coach of the inter-Korean team Sarah Murray was proud of her players for becoming "One Body," her motto throughout the campaign.

As the head coach said, the historic team became a symbol of peace and unity at a time when North-South relations had been strained due to Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program.

The side, which featured 12 North Korean players and 23 South Koreans, was the first combined Korean ice hockey team to compete at the Olympics. Previously, the Koreas had only fielded joint teams in table tennis and youth football at world championships.

On Monday, the International Ice Hockey Federation said that it would be open to the Koreas entering a joint women’s hockey team to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
