The South Korean Foreign Ministry said that a forthcoming visit to South Korea by the daughter of U.S. President Donald Trump will highlight the solid alliance between Seoul and Washington.

Ministry Spokesman Noh Kyu-duk made the remark during a regular media briefing on Tuesday, while addressing the planned attendance of a U.S. delegation at the closing ceremony of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Sunday, to be led by Trump's eldest daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump.

Noh said while the U.S. delegation's visit is aimed at congratulating South Korea for successfully hosting the Winter Games, it will also offer a chance for the two allies to exchange opinions on issues of mutual interests.

The spokesman said the ministry is currently reviewing what role Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha may be able to play in welcoming the U.S. delegation.

But he said the detailed itinerary of the U.S. delegation is still being discussed, expecting Washington will make an announcement when it is decided.
