The South Korean women’s curling team has secured a berth to the semifinals at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics with two games still to play in the preliminary stage.

The team beat the seventh-ranked U.S. 9-6 at the Gangneung Curling Center on Tuesday, extending its winning rally to five games and securing a spot in the semis to be held on Friday.

It's the first time a South Korean curling team, men or women, has made it to an Olympics semifinal.

With six victories and a single loss, Team Korea is solely occupying the top position among the ten nations vying for a spot in the semifinals through the round-robin competition.

Team Korea will play against OAR(Olympic Athletes from Russia) and Denmark on Wednesday.
