S.Korea Wins 4 Golds on Day 1 of Asian Games
South Korea has won four gold medals on the first full day of competition at the Guangzhou Asian Games.

South Korea's first gold medal came in the men's 50m pistol team shooting event. A team of Jin Jong-oh, Lee Dae-myung and Lee Sang-do racked up a total of 1,679 points to win the gold, beating out the Chinese team, who won the silver with 1,671 points.

South Korea captured three gold medals in judo alone. Hwang Hee-tae won the gold in the men's -100kg event by beating second-place finisher Takamasa Anai of Japan. Jeong Gyeong-mi took the gold in the women's -78kg event after toppling Japan’s Akari Ogata. And Kim Soo-whan beat Uzbekistan’s Abdullo Tangriev to win the gold in the men's +100kg event.

In soccer, South Korea's national team, led by coach Hong Myung-bo, shut out Palestine 3-0 in the third Group C qualifier to advance to the round of 16.

South Korea will face the winner of a match between Malaysia and China for a ticket to the quarterfinals on Monday.

Some 14-thousand athletes from 45 Asian countries are competing in 42 events during the Games that opened Friday.

South Korea has sent a total of one-thousand-13 athletes to compete in the sporting event. It is aiming to win more than 65 gold medals to finish no lower than second place in the overall medal tally for the fourth consecutive time at the Asian Games.
