N. Korea Urges US to End Hostile Policy
2014-10-21 Updated.

North Korea says that the U.S.’ hostile policies are to blame for the failed dialogue aimed at resolving Pyongyang’s nuclear issue, and is calling on the U.S. to end such policies.

The North’s Rodong Sinmun made the call on Wednesday on the 20th anniversary of the 1994 Agreed Framework between Pyongyang and Washington. The deal called for the North to freeze its nuclear program in return for light water reactors.

The agreement fell apart in 2002, as the North was found to have pursued a uranium enrichment program.

The paper claimed that hostile U.S. policy toward the North is the root cause of the failed talks and the collapse of the Agreed Framework.

The paper said that Washington did not faithfully implement the agreement and eventually abandoned it because it maliciously calculated that the North Korean regime would collapse under its own weight.
