NEC to Support Election Management of Party Primaries

The National Election Commission (NEC) says it will support and provide election management for party primaries to select presidential candidates.

The election watchdog released a statement Tuesday, saying it will provide assistance in election management for the Democratic Party on Wednesday, the Liberty Korea Party on Sunday, and the Bareun Party on Sunday and next Monday.

Registered electors who will participate in the primaries of the Democratic Party and the Liberty Korea Party will be allowed to vote at polling stations nationwide.

The commission will also support and provide election management for the Bareun Party, which introduced the online voting system in a primary for presidential elections for the first time.

The election watchdog cannot provide these support after Sunday according to the Public Officials Election Law, but plans to actively support party primaries in the form of providing ballot papers, voting equipment and information on ballot counting.
