Nearly 70,000 S. Koreans in US to Vote in Presidential Election

Nearly 70-thousand South Koreans residing in the U.S. will cast a vote in the upcoming South Korean presidential election.
 
According to the South Korean Consulate in Los Angeles on Tuesday, a total of 68-thousand-244 South Korean nationals in the U.S. have applied for overseas balloting for the May ninth presidential election.
 
It marks a whopping 31-point-eight percent increase from those applying to vote in the U.S. in the previous South Korean presidential election in 2012.
 
Most applicants were registered through the South Korean Consulates in New York and Los Angeles, at 13-thousand-716 and 13-thousand-631, respectively, followed by the consulates in Chicago, Washington D.C., San Francisco and Atlanta.
 
The registrants in the U.S. account for 23-point-two percent of the potential South Korean overseas voters, followed by registrants in China and Japan.
 
The overseas balloting will be held across the world for six days beginning April 25th.
