Gov’t Pledges to Hold Clean, Fair Pres. Election

The government is pledging to make the upcoming 19th presidential election fair and transparent. 
 
Interior Minister Hong Yun-sik and Acting Justice Minister Lee Chang-jae issued a joint statement on preventing illegal election campaigning on Monday.
 
In the statement, the government said that it will fully mobilize prosecutorial and police personnel to crack down on and punish all election irregularities, including vote buying, mudslinging and public opinion manipulation.
 
The government also said it will make sure public officials will remain politically neutral, vowing to sternly deal with illegal campaigning by organizations and groups that are banned from engaging in election activities.
