Ministry Of Defense Abolishes Celebrity Recruit Unit
Following the incident where a couple of celebrities serving the military under the Promotional Department were found abusing the privileges or duties of their status, the Ministry of Defense conducted an investigation into celebrity recruits in Korea's military. The investigation has come to an end and the Ministry of Defense held a press conference on July 18th announcing that it has decided to abolish the Promotional Department, aka celebrity recruit department. The ministry stated that the Promotional Department is to bring positive attention and awareness to the military, not to mention raise the morale of soldiers. However, due to the recent events, the public's view on the military has darkened with solider morale dropping. After 16 years, the said department will be no more.Furthermore, out of the current 5 celebrity recruits serving in the Promotional Support Brigade, 8 will be punished for their problematic actions. The entire department will be reassigned to other units starting August 1st. However, there are three celebrity soldiers who have less than three months until their discharge. Those three will be reassigned as an active duty soldier, the same status as the majority of non-celebrity soldiers.
