50's Singer Baek Seol-hee Passes Away
Former singer Baek Seol-hee (real name Kim Hee-sook) passed away at the age of 83 years old on May 5th, at 3 AM. Her death was caused by complications from high blood pressure. Baek was taken into the hospital late 2009 and has been battling such complications until her passing. The late Baek was married to former actor Hwang Hae-shi (real name Jeon Hong-goo), who also passed away at the age of 85 in 2005.

Baek's family of course was devastated; her son, 80's singer and actor Jeon Young-rok and her granddaughter, T-ara member, Bo-ram. Bo-ram reportedly visited her grandmother at the hospital every chance she got. Bo-ram was mid-rehearsal when she heard the news and reportedly shed tears as she rushed over as fast as possible. She's currently at Baek's wake.

Netizens have been also mourning the loss of a former star, saying it's a "big loss for Korean music."

Baek first debuted back in 1943 and was known for her hit songs such as "Spring Days Are Leaving", "The Hill On the River Where Water Birds Cry", "The Night Grape Flowers Bloom", among others. She was loved by many in the 50-60's era.
