Previously known as "The King of Joseon"

A commoner becoming the king.
A theme that's all too familiar to us.

Just like the well-known fable ‘The Prince and The Pauperʼ

Based in 16th- century Joseon Dynasty.

A period thriller, but there's bits of humor sprinkled in the film that worked well.

Stars Lee Byeong-hun
Ryoo Seung-Ryong
Jang Gwang
Kim In-kwon

The commoner who becomes the King struggles to fit into his role, but in the process realizes just what it takes to be a good king.

Although the premise may feel like it’s based on real events in history, but the film is a work of fiction.

Lee Byeong-heon plays both the king and the commoner.

it's his first role in a historical drama since his debut.

The movie is directed by Choo Chang-min whose other works include "Mapado" and "Lost in Love" and the writer Hwang Jo-yoon who co-wrote "Old Boy".

King Gwanghae (Lee Byung-Hun) has been the King for the past 8 years.

He has lost his ways, and he even orders his councilor to find someone that looks like him to sit in his throne, so that he could go on wild night outs with his mistresses.

Ryoo Seung-ryong comes across a clown who performs lewd shows in front of drunken noblemen.
He strongly resembles King Gwanghae and is even able to imitate the way King Gwanghae speaks.

King Gwanghae collapses and is taken to a safe house.
The imposter continues his role as the King until the King can recover.

Slowly, Ha-Sun's own personality comes out and the people in the King's inner court notice the changes.

The King appears more humane to those around him and far less volatile.

He earns the love and respect of many, while his enemies within the King's inner circle
plan their next move.

Lee made a name for himself in Hollywood with his appearance in the "G. I. Joe" series.
