맛있게 드세요 (Enjoy your meal / Bon appétit)

맛있게 – deliciously
드시다 – to eat (honorific)
- 드세요 – polite imperative form of [드시다]

Casual – 맛있게 먹어
Semi-polite – 맛있게 먹어요
Polite – 맛있게 드세요

>> when speaking casually, the verb [드시다] should be replaced with its casual equivalent, [먹다]

>> one may respond to the expression by saying [잘 먹겠습니다 (polite)/ 잘 먹을게 (casual)], meaning “thank you for the meal/food.”

>> hosts would often modestly say [차린건 없지만 맛있게 드세요], meaning “there isn’t much food, but please enjoy your meal.”
