Korea’s top female idol group the Wonder Girls will have a new member. Sunmi will leave the five-girl group in February when they wrap up their U.S. stay. Wonder Girls’ agency JYP Entertainment announced that Sunmi wanted to return to her studies and will return to show business when she enters college. Her decision to leave the hot K-pop group did not come easy. She said that although last year’s concert tour in the U.S. had been a happy and precious experience, she wondered about how much longer she can live a life on the road. It was only after a long thinking and discussing with her family that she decided to come back to Korea to resume her studies.
JYP Entertainment says that the company will back her up in all her endeavors and allow her to practice and take lessons in dance and singing even while she’s not working as a Wonder Girls member. Sunmi will return to Korea in March to get ready for her college admission.
Then who will fill Sunmi’s shoes? It will be Lim, who has been with JYP Entertainment for the last three years getting ready for her debut. She is fluent in four languages – Korean, English, Cantonese, and Mandarin – and expected to blend in smoothly with the rest of the team.
