2017 S/S Seoul Fashion Week Special

2016-10-25

The Spring/Summer 2017 Hera Seoul Fashion Week came to a grand finale on
Saturday, October 22, after wowing the world once again with awe-inspiring high fashion and eye-catching street looks. Today on our show, we’re going to share some of our favorite looks straight from Seoul Fashion Week.

For six days, fashion gurus, editors, and retailers from all around the world
gathered at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Eastern Seoul to scout for the newest fashion trends of the season—and I was there at the scene to get a glimpse into what we’ll be wearing next Spring.

* On the Runways
Korea’s biggest fashion festival celebrated yet another successful hosting of 41 designer catwalks. The stellar lineup this season included big names such as Jin, Tae-ok, Chang, Kwang-hyo, Kye, Han-hee, and more whose innovative works were featured at the Seoul Collection—the original runway program and the pinnacle of Seoul Fashion Week. The shows—varying in themes and moods— were a mélange of 60’s-inspired monochromatic tailored looks, playful street wear styles, and a fun mix of prints and fearless use of colors. Among the
hottest looks off the runways were a fascinating parade of candy colors and the classic grunge and punk styles. Canary yellow, zesty orange, and purple toned blues were some of the hottest colors while the exquisite crop tops, high-waisted shorts, mini-dresses, loose-fit pants, and tops decorated with ruffle
detailings re not to be missed for Spring/Summer 2017.

* Red Carpet Looks
Present at the Spring/Summer 2017 Hera Seoul Fashion Week were a number of
celebrities, including style icons Key of Shinee, Hyolyn and Soyou of Sistar, Joy of Red Velvet, supermodels Han, Hye-jin and Kang, Seung-hyun, and many more who were impeccably dressed for the event. Among other “it” items, maxi trench coats, oversized blazers, and the ever-so-stylish bomber jackets were just a few of Korean celebs’ favorite outerwear options for a Fashion Week outing.

* On the Streets
No Fashion Week is complete without the presence of street fashionistas and style bloggers who have a knack for styling—and Seoul Fashion Week was no doubt the perfect place to get a peek into what’s chic on the streets. Spotted at the venue were crowds of stylistas roaming around the DDP in trendy clothes and photographers trying to capture the moments—who created quite a fashion scene. Everything from maxi coats, clashing prints such as florals and polka dots to distressed denims, cropped pants, and layered accessories were some of the key looks. Seeing fashionistas combining their characteristic street fashion with avant-garde high-end styles definitely made the visit worth it.
