Actor Yoo Ah-in has been sentenced to one year in prison for using illegal drugs. 

The Seoul Central District Court on Tuesday handed down the prison term to 37-year old Uhm Hong-sik known professionally by his stage name Yoo Ah-in for violating the nation's narcotics control act.
 
He was immediately taken into custody after the court found him guilty of habitual use of Propofol, an intravenous anesthetic agent, as well as smoking marijuana. 

The court said that the defendant’s dependence on illegal substances is serious and the risk of recidivism is not low.

The actor was indicted last October on charges of injecting Propofol and other drugs 181 times between September 2020 and March 2022 under the pretext of anesthesia for cosmetic procedures. 

He was also ordered to complete drug addiction rehabilitation programs.
