Korean National Police Agency(KNPA) Commissioner General Cho Ji-ho convened an emergency meeting of police commanders at 12 a.m. Wednesday after President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law.

According to the KNPA on Tuesday, the commanders are making their way to the police headquarters.

No specific guidance is reported to have been issued.

An official at the KNPA said once martial law is declared, all those with the authority are expected to gather at the defense ministry, where the attendees name the martial law commander.

The official said the police will be required to take control of society upon orders from the martial law commander.
