Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung reportedly ordered the prosecution to investigate alleged treason in the process of President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of emergency martial law late Tuesday.

According to sources in the judicial community, Shim assigned the case on the president's alleged treason, power abuse and obstruction of exercise of right to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on Thursday.

The state agency's travel ban issued against former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun is reported to be in line with the top prosecutor's decision.

Minor opposition parties, including the Labor Party, the Green Party and the Justice Party on Wednesday filed complaints with the prosecution against Yoon, Kim and Army Chief of Staff Park An-su.

Other opposition parties, including Rebuilding Korea Party, filed similar complaints against Yoon, Kim, Park and Interior Minister Lee Sang-min with the National Office of Investigation under the police agency.
